Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

During this runup to Christmas, I have received way too many emails with
“Happy Holidays” in the subject or within the content of the email.

After writing back to the sender asking why they did this, all said “to be politicaly correct.
I want to ask you this question, What does celebrating the birth of Christ have to do with
politics? Those who believe in a God are the majority. Why “cater” to the minority?

If you are writing the email you want it to be comming from YOU! If you believe in God, SAY SO! I’m not saying you should push your beliefs on anyone, that would be wrong. What I’m saying is to be yourself and not “hide” behind something you do not believe!! Remember, your email is to tell your subscribers who you are and NOT who you think they want you to be!!

I just read this FANTASTIC post by Joel Comm on the subject of Christmas. Here is an excerpt from the post at Joels Top Ten Christmas Favorites;

#6 – Saying “Merry Christmas” to people

Happy Holidays. Pffft. How lame.

Being Jewish, I’ve nothing against Hanukkah. The Festival of Lights is a real celebration of a genuine miracle. Admittedly, I know nothing about Kwanzaa, but I’m sure it is significant to those who celebrate it.

But Christmas is Christmas. We all know why we decorate and have parties this time of year. We know why we buy lots of presents and tell stories of snowmen, reindeer and a fat guy who invades our homes via the chimney. So why the political correctness?

It’s because of the very vocal minority who claim to be “offended” by Christmas. They have influenced political leaders and corporations to make changes in policy so as to keep the peace amongst those who don’t believe as the majority do.

I won’t wish anyone a Happy Holidays. If it’s Hanukkah, I’ll wish those people a Happy Hanukkah. If I meet someone who celebrates Kwanzaa, I’ll give them a Festive Kwanzaa (or whatever it is they say).

But if it is Christmas, you are going to get a MERRY CHRISTMAS from me.

I will not minimize the holiday by calling it by another name. And even when they desperately try to dumb it down by making it more about the fictional Santa Claus character and less about the baby Jesus, I’ll still say Merry Christmas and know that no human being on the face of the earth can ever steal away it’s meaning with phrases, commercialism or political correctness. :-)

I think you will like reading the entire post by Joel.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

New FTC Law

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Now I’m laughing at this whole FTC thingy…
It seems that all of a sudden there are a “great many gooroos or gurus” which find the need to “sell”something before tomorrow, December 1st!

I ask myself one question, WHY!
Selling this “stuff” day in and day out was all good for the pocket, WHY NOW?

Does this mean we have been mislead by these marketers? Does it mean that those “testimonials” they so adoringly post are not absolute truths? Does it mean that we may have been conned into thinking these GREAT programs actually work and will allow us to earn?

Why is it the New FTC Law seems to have invocted so many marketers to change their daily practices?

Caveat Emptor is now a thing of the past on the internet. Let the Buyer Beware no longer means you need to figure out what the product can do for you but, rather, it must be disclosed before you purchase. I like that idea myself and can be pretty sure you do also unless you are one of those which finds the need to remove your site by tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a BIG day for many but, it’s very insubstantial for more of us. We are the people who sell what we sell unabashadly, have no concerns that what we sell can be taken in a context other than what is stated. The procuct(s) we sell do EXACTLY what has been claimed. No more and no less!

If you sell affiliate products you may fall into a different catagory…

  • Have you tested the product?
  • Did it perform as stated?
  • Did you make any indisputable claims?

The above is something which will be a near future post. In the mean time, please leave your thoughts on this whole FTC thingy!

Whittle it down…

Friday, June 26th, 2009

What do I mean by “WHITTLE IT DOWN” ?

That’s pretty simple but, you need to know “why!”  Whittle it down means to look at all those emails you receive and decide which ones are important to you. WHO have you bought from, WHO did you buy from again? What about all those other promotions? If you didn’t purchase, unsubscribe from their email.

Why you ask? It’s pretty simple… If you didn’t purchase their product whith the first or second email, it’s pretty obvious you will not purchase on the third, fourth, etc…

I know rule of thumb is to resend again and again since users usually take around 7 -8 times before they purchase. That was then and this is now. You are now a smart, independent marketer. You have become numb to all the launches and promotions! You KNOW what’s on the horizon!

Were you able to make money with the last promotion you purchased?
Did it help your IM business at all?
Would YOU purchase from the same marketer?

These are all questions you must ask yourself. If you answer no to them, UNSUBSCRIBE from their list. It’s very unlikely they would send you anything you are interested in or will help you today, tomorrow, or in the future!

Do yourself a favor, WHITTLE IT DOWN!!

Is an IM Confrontation Happening?

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

This is almost too funny. I recived an email from two marketers about the same thing. One was from Scott Drake and the other from David Canham. It seems they are accusing each other of inapropriate actions. You may or may not have gotten these emails so let me copy and paste them here so you know what I’m talking about.

Can you say IM confrontation?

Begin Email Quotes:

Scott Drake says:
“I was just about to send out a message to promote David Canham’s new giveaway when the following popped up on my Skype:

[4:25:41 PM] David Canham says: what your not going to upgrade you cheap bastard?
[4:26:15 PM] David Canham says: (mooning)

NOTE: the (mooning) text will display a man figure bending over and exposing his Butt as to say Kiss My A&%

With the Maturity at this Level I am now Recommending everyone to stay away from such even. Don’t worry David will have his boss Guido promoting for him.

I am sure David will follow up on this message with some sort of justification or accusation as he is good at doing that like the accusations against Scott Case that he posted on IMCops.com that that we had to delete because they were false.”

The confrontation continues…

David Canham says:
“I’m not sure if you’re on Scott Drakes email list or not so I don’t know if you got the defamatory email he sent out about me.

I have known Scott for over a year and was in daily contact with him through Skype. We were friends for a while I guess until he took something personal.

The comment I made to him today through skype was made in jest and he conveniently cut out that part of the message before blasting it all over the internet.

I currently have criminal charges through the Internet crimes division pressed against Scott for an illegal hack into my server so maybe this is why he has responded as he did.

I do my business with the utmost integrity and honesty and always treat my customers as I would like to be treated.

Whether you choose to stay on my list after his comments is entirely up to you. I hope that you do but if you don’t I understand.”

End Email Quotes

What does this all mean? It means that impropriety is taking place in the IM business. I sent an email out to both David and Scott and guess who replied first. DAVID! What he had to say made much more sense than the noreply from Scott.

Now, I’m not saying either is right or wrong but, owning a hosting business myself, what David had to say made so much sense to me it’s incredible! All his i’s were dotted and t’s crossed. To me that says a TON about David and his marketing practices. On the other side is Scott and his case. I never received a reply. It could be his spam filters prevented my email from getting to him, or maybe he uses an email which he doesn’t get or does not open very often. All I know as of writing this is that Scott NEVER replied and David has!

Why am I sharing this you ask? To help you and your marketing, that’s why! You want to avoid confrontations like this. You want to be a respected member of the IM comunity. No one will ever trust you if things like the above ever happen to you!

For the record, the email from David Canham was very convincing since I own a hosting company. I know how it all works…

If you have received these emails, please let me know what you think about the rift between David Canham and Scott Drake. I would love to hear your comments about the whole thing.

Getting caught

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Have you been getting caught in all the promotions lately?
You know the ones, everything you need to create thousands of dollars online
if you buy x program?

I keep getting caught in the same crap as you. I finally decided, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Don’t buy all the sparkling new stuff which arrives in your email box. All you are doing
is helping the person promoting it and NOT YOU!

Who is more important to you? The person selling the program or YOU and your family?
That’s what I thought. Do yourself a favor and STOP GETTING CAUGHT!

I’m sure you get all the stuff in your email that I do. It’s okay to click and see what it’s
all about. Just don’t buy it cause it sounds good. Do some research. Find out about the
person selling it. Google the sellers name and product. You could be amazed at what you
may find out…

I am able to say this since I have almost 500 gig of resale/plr crap on my hard drive and
haven’t earned a penny from any of it! I really hope you are not the same as me since I
know the dollars invested for 0 return!

My decision has been to “stop buying”. I have done it “Cold Turkey”!
Now I want you to follow me in my IM foot-prints.

IT’S TIME TO STOP BUYING AND START EARNING!!

Within this blog I will show you programs which do work and not all the crap which
arrives in my email. My intention is to become the “Ralph Nader” of internet marketing.
The consumer, both online and offline needs to be aware of everything out there!

I will tell you I may not post daily or weekly. I do expect to post at least once per month.
The more comments I receive, the more I will post. That my IM friends is a promise.

That’s it for now. Please leave a comment if you have time and remember to tell your
friends about this site.

May God Bless,
Walter Gavurnik
